DETENTION CENTER

DETENTION OFFICER - BASIC

(Salary Grade 65 - 34,644) Required Courses/Education & Exp.: High school diploma. Eligible for Probationary or General Certification as a Detention Officer by the North Carolina Sheriff's Training and Standards Commission. Prefer Detention Officer Certification. Applicant will be required to submit to a physical assessment test. Residency requirement of Pitt or a surrounding county. Valid North Carolina driver license required. Requires a Pitt County Sheriff's Office Application Packet (which can be obtained from the Pitt County Human Resources Department) and is due in Human Resources by 5:00 pm. on the closing date. The Packet is not available on the county website.

PUBLIC HEALTH

PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE I

(Salary Range: 43,794 - 69,216) (Outreach) Required Courses/Education & Exp.: Key Duties: Provides Care Coordination for clients in Pitt County who are enrolled in the Community Care Plan (Medicaid - Carolina Access). Also provides Child Service Coordination (CSC) for children ages 0-3 years identified with or at risk for developmental disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Provide CSC for children ages 3-5 years with a diagnosis or a developmental disability and/or chronic illness. Provides Maternity Care Coordination (MCC) for pregnant clients at risk of a poor pregnancy outcome. Provides infant and Post-Natal assessments for all Medicaid, self pay and physician requested patients in the county as well as those accessing Pitt County Health Department Prenatal Clinic and Women, Infant and Children's (WIC) services within 2-3 weeks of discharge. The infant and post-natal assessments can be seen up to 60 days post partum for Medicaid reimbursement. Knowledge and Skills Requirement: Considerable knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practices principles and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs; general knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health; a working knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health; a working knowledge of available resources and organizations. The ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions; the ability to secure the cooperation of clients, to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships; the ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports and medical instructions; to some extent the ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work of others. The nurse must be knowledgeable in and possess good pediatric, maternal and post-natal assessment skills; have good verbal and written communication skills; possess the ability to work positively as a team member; and to provide culturally sensitive care. Minimum Training and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation; or Master's in Public Health and graduation form a school of professional nursing; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid North Carolina driver license, good driving record and proof of rubella immunity.

SOLID WASTE

TRANSFER STATION SUPERVISOR

(Salary Grade 68 - 39,875) Required Courses/Education & Exp.: Graduation from high school supplemented by training in operation and maintenance of heavy equipment and 6 years of experience in the operation of heavy motorized equipment and supervisory experience in sanitation and/or solid waste disposal operations; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Possession of valid North Carolina Class B Commercial drivers license (CDL) and a good driving record.
