Pitt County and City of Greenville to host 8k Road Race

The City of Greenville and Pitt County are teaming up and encouraging you to do the same. The two governments are getting ready to hold the inaugural Greenville-Pitt County 8K Road Race to benefit the community's health, arts, and sciences.

City and County staffs are working with volunteers from the Pitt County Arts Council, Go-Science, and the Pitt County Chapter of the American Red Cross to put on the event. The goal is to create a race which encourages health and wellness by getting non-traditional runners to train and compete. All proceeds from the race will benefit these charities and, by extension, the community.

Runners can compete individually, in teams of two (relay-style), in a 1-mile fun run, or in a special kids race. The race is scheduled for Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 8:00a. Registration is available on the website www.active.com or from 6:15 - 7:30a the morning of the race. In order to be guaranteed a race t-shirt in your size, you must register by August 9.
