Coffee Grounds and Eggshells can Become Compost
The Pitt County office of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension has begun a Kitchen Waste Composting Program. Coffee grounds, eggshells, fruit and vegetable scraps, napkins, paper towels, and tea bags are being collected from the Cooperative Extension office and added to non-woody yard waste to complement the composting program at the Pitt County Agricultural Center and Pitt County Arboretum.
The composting demonstration area is open to visitors daily at the Pitt County Agricultural Center and includes instructional signs. The Ag Center is located at 403 Government Circle, Greenville.
For more information on the composting program, contact Danny Lauderdale at 252.902.1701 or danny_lauderdale@ncsu.edu.
