Governor visits Pitt County Public Health Department

Article PictureGovernor Beverly Perdue visited Pitt County Health Department on Monday, September 21st. Dr. John Morrow, Health Director, and Mr. Robert Ogden, Chairman of the Pitt County Board of Health, led the Governor on a tour of the Health Department. NC State Senator Don Davis and NC State Board of Education member Kathy Taft joined the Governor during the tour, along with Pitt County and Greenville City officials including Sheriff Mac Manning, Emergency Management Director, Noel Lee, and Mayor Pat Dunn of the City of Greenville.

During her visit, the Governor spoke with clients and staff about the services and activities of the Health Department. The Governor was specifically interested in the Health Department and County's seasonal and H1N1 flu preparedness activities. At the end of the visit, the Governor expressed her appreciation of the staff's efforts and indicated that she considered many of the planning efforts employed by the Pitt County Health Department as a model for others.
